Behaviour Policy

1. Standards of Conduct

All pupils are required to uphold an exceptional standard of behaviour throughout every

session. This includes:

  • Demonstrating sustained focus and attentiveness.

  • Engaging positively and proactively with all learning activities.

  • Following instructions promptly and respectfully.

  • Treating the tutor, peers, and learning environment with courtesy.

  • Arriving prepared, organised, and ready to learn.

Pupils must contribute to a calm, purposeful atmosphere that enables effective teaching and

uninterrupted learning.

2. Unacceptable Behaviour

The following behaviours are considered unacceptable and will be addressed immediately:

  • Disrupting the lesson or distracting others.

  • Refusing to follow instructions or engaging in oppositional behaviour.

  • Persistent lack of focus, disengagement, or avoidance of work.

  • Rudeness, disrespect, or inappropriate language.

  • Misuse of learning materials or digital devices.

  • Any behaviour that compromises safety, learning quality, or the wellbeing of others.

Repeated or serious incidents may result in removal from the session or termination of

tuition.

3. Consequences and Intervention Measures

Where behaviour falls below the required standard, the following graduated responses may be applied:

  • Verbal reminder of expectations.

  • Temporary pause in the activity to refocus the pupil.

  • Behaviour note recorded for monitoring purposes.

  • Communication with parents outlining concerns and required improvements.

  • Behaviour improvement plan if issues persist.

  • Suspension or withdrawal from sessions in cases of repeated or severe misconduct.

The tutor reserves the right to end a session early if behaviour prevents effective teaching.

4. Parental Responsibilities

Parents play a crucial role in supporting behaviour expectations. Parents are expected to:

  • Ensure their child arrives on time, prepared, and ready to learn.

  • Reinforce the importance of exemplary behaviour and full engagement.

  • Support the tutor’s professional judgement regarding behaviour concerns.

  • Respond promptly to communication about behaviour issues.

  • Work collaboratively with the tutor to implement improvement strategies where needed.

Consistent parental support is essential for maintaining a high-quality learning environment.

5. Tutor Responsibilities

Tutors will:

  • Provide a structured, calm, and supportive learning environment.

  • Communicate expectations clearly and consistently.

  • Use fair, proportionate strategies to manage behaviour.

  • Offer encouragement, praise, and positive reinforcement.

  • Inform parents promptly of any concerns.

  • Maintain professional standards and safeguard the learning experience for all pupils.

Tutors are committed to ensuring every pupil can learn effectively and make sustained academic progress.

6. Policy Purpose

This policy exists to protect the integrity of the learning environment, uphold professional

standards, and ensure that every pupil receives the highest quality educational experience
